Pressure washing is the cleaning of outdoor surfaces with pressurised water to remove algae, moss, weeds, lichen, grime and staining. Done properly, it means choosing the pressure, temperature and tooling for each material rather than using full power on everything.

How the job runs, start to finish
Step 1

We identify each surface, check its condition, note loose slabs, failing pointing or rocking blocks, and plan where water and silt will drain while we work.

Diagnosis
Each material gets its own method: firm pressure for robust concrete block, reduced pressure for sandstone and porcelain, steam for heavy organic growth, and softwash for render and walls where pressure would cause damage.
Step 3
Execution
Open areas are cleaned with rotary surface cleaners for even, stripe-free results, edges are detailed by hand, silt is flushed to the drainage point, and block paving is re-sanded with kiln-dried sand once dry.
Step 4
Verification
Before the vans move, the work is walked with you or photographed end to end. Gutters are flow-checked, surfaces are inspected in daylight, and anything we found along the way, a slipped tile, a split downpipe, a failing joint, is reported in writing rather than left for you to discover.
Step 5
Completion and guarantee
The site is cleared, planting is rinsed off and your invoice follows by email. Where the service carries a guarantee, the terms are confirmed in writing with the date the cover runs from, and low-cost retreatment is offered before the cover lapses rather than after.

Pressure Washing: methods, materials and variations
Surfaces we pressure wash
Concrete and clay block paving, imprinted concrete, tarmac, Indian sandstone, natural stone, porcelain, slabbed patios, paths and steps, timber and composite decking, boundary walls, and commercial hard standing such as car parks, service yards and entrances. Each has a different tolerance, and the method is set per surface rather than per job.
Pressure washing, steam and softwash
Pressure washing is ideal for robust hard surfaces. Steam cleaning adds heat, which breaks down moss, lichen and grease with less pressure, making it safer for older and softer materials. Softwash uses low pressure with a cleaning treatment and is the right choice for render, cladding and roofs. We carry all three, so the job is never forced into the only tool on the van.
Equipment and run-off
We use rotary surface cleaners across open areas, with hand lances only for edges, steps and detail. Silt is flushed to the drainage point instead of into borders, planting is rinsed down afterwards, and neighbouring surfaces are protected from overspray.
After the clean
Block paving is re-sanded with kiln-dried sand as standard so the interlock is restored. Patios with failing pointing are flagged in writing rather than blasted further. Timber decking is cleaned at reduced pressure to avoid raising the grain.

Domestic jobs are usually completed in a day with vehicles moved off beforehand. Commercial car parks, forecourts and yards are quoted by area, and RAMS and method statements are available on request.
